Gers Retreat

A.Paysse was originally an old presbytery, built in the mid 18th century and is nestled in a small valley, next to a charming chapel.
It is set amongst stunning countryside which has the Pyrenees as its dramatic back drop. The area is rich in wildlife and offers much of interest to nature enthusiasts and artists alike.

The small hamlet of Aussat in the Gers region of France is ideally situated for trips to Biarritz on the Atlantic coast (2 hrs), Lourdes and the Pyrenees (1hr). The neighbouring bastide towns of Mirande and Marciac are well worth a visit, as is the beautiful capital of the Gers, Auch – home of D’Artagnan the fourth Musketeer.

While there is much to do in the area, many visitors simply enjoy the local walks, taking in the wildlife and lapping up the tranquility in a space that is a world away from the everyday hubbub of life.

The Gers has often been described as rural Britain 60 years ago, but with a much warmer climate and a lot less people.
During the spring and summer months, temperatures tend to remain in the 30°c and with the height of the summer, come some amazing electric storms.
